Poet Mathias Svalina’s Dream Delivery Service takes subscribers who receive dreams delivered to their doors every day for one month. The dreams are brief surrealist narratives he writes and encloses in small pink envelopes– biking through the empty streets of Denver to deliver to subscribers before dawn. Svalina started the Dream Delivery Service in 2014, hoping to devise a new sort of relationship with a reader, a new kind of reading intimacy.
For Svalina’s residence at Understudy, subscribers within a four-mile radius could sign up to receive dreams delivered by bike; subscribers outside of the radius received dreams by mail. In addition to his delivery service Svalina met with visitors to Understudy and transcribed their dreams to collect in The Big Book of Denver Dreams, and hosted events of embodied dream-logic in the Understudy space, bringing the personal framework of the dream into social settings. More details on the events held at Understudy can be found here.
